Water

Clockwise from top left:
- Last week Jon and Courtney visiting an elephant rehabilitation centre at Tangkahan where they even helped wash the elephants... for a fuller account see their blog www.jalanterus.wordpress.com
- the bucket that lives in Jamin and Julie's shower to collect extra water. With the water restrictions in Melbourne, any extra water is a bonus for watering the garden.
- For Mara and Joel, their lives are revolving around Joel's broken hand: and this whole week, from not going on their weekend trip to how they take showers, it is all about avoiding water.
- The temperature in Latvia is hovering around zero and so the snow is melting, re-freezing, melting, re-freezing - which means that you encounter a wonderful diversity of water in all its forms - slush puppy, puddles, crunchy snow, sludge...

The bucket in the shower.
I still feel guilty in Indonesia when I have a long shower. The water here is not drinkable and it is the wet season here at the moment so there is no shortage of water but the catch phrase 'every drop counts' is ingrained into me.
